Spiderbeam damage after mini tornado hit...

The following photos shows the damage sustained to our 20/30/40 Meter Monster Spiderbeam after a mini tornado went through the area on Saturday 19th January 2008. 2 elements were broken by the strong winds. The winds also picked up some roof sheets that were stacked on the ground nearby and deposited them over a large area. Luckily no damage to any other antennas or the clubhouse itself. After much consideration by the members involved with the Monster Spiderbeam build team it was decided not to rebuild the antenna. This was mainly due to the many man hours required to get it back to a fully operational antenna and the difficulty in getting it back on the mast again. It really needs to be on a hazer system to make it easy to assemble and adjust when required.

We still have the centre HUB assembly and if anyone wants to build one and requires the centre Hub, please contact the club.
